Forensic Evaluation

Forensic Evaluation is the only skill in the game whose find isn't rolled from a table. Every item this world has permanently destroyed — carried into a Dungeon Boss fight and lost, or scattered on a death nobody came back for — is still down there somewhere, and a forensic reading occasionally turns one up: the same sword, the same wear, the same maker's mark, belonging to whoever lost it. Once found it is gone from the ground for good, so no relic is ever recovered twice.

How you train it Start Forensic Evaluation in any town. Every attempt reads a story out of the ground, and carries a small chance of digging up something somebody else lost for good.

What it turns up

Chance of a find per attempt
0.05%
What a find is
A real item another player lost for good — the same item, not a copy
If nothing is left to find
A Lost Purse, opened like a Geode
At Grandmaster
+20% leather from every skinning
🔎
The Camping bonus climbs the whole way up rather than waiting for Grandmaster — half the skill is half the bonus. It lifts how much leather comes off a kill, never which tier of hide drops.
⚰️
An item is only ever in the ground once. Whoever digs it up first has it, and it can never be found again — including by the person who lost it.
